How to search for answers in the BigPond Help Centre
How to Search for Answers
Narrow your search
Choose a product from the drop-down menu (refine your search), to reduce the number of answers that become available
To require words
Use a plus (+) symbol in front of words to find only documents that contain those words.
Example: Type +adsl +password to find documents that contain both words, adsl and password.
You must make sure there is no space between the + and the word you want to include and if there is more than one word, you include a space between the first word and the next + sign.
So in the example above, there is no space between the + sign and adsl, no space between the +sign and password but there is a space between adsl and the second + sign.
To exclude words
Use a minus (-) symbol in front of words to exclude documents that contain those words.
Example: Type +bill -usage to find documents that contain the word bill but not usage.
You must make sure there is no space between the + and the word you want, no space between the - sign and the word(s) you want to exclude and spaces between each word and the next sign.
So in the example above, there is no space between the + sign and bill, no space between the -sign and usage but there is a space between bill and the - sign.
Use uncommon words
Use uncommon words to increase the probability of getting the answers you want.
Different Word Forms
All search techniques search for different word forms such as singular, plural, or different verb tenses.
Example: Search for reflect to find documents that contain reflection, reflections, reflected, reflecting or reflects.
